MY FANTASTIC FAMILY DAY

My mum, dad, sister and I went for a drive to New Plymouth in the holidays to have a family day. We went to the movies and watched G-Force, it was really funny. Before the movies we played some games and had lunch, for lunch I had hot chips - my favourite yum yum. After the movies we went shopping and I got some new clothes. I got a hoody and some skinny jeans (two pairs). My favourite thing that we brought was my element cap. We were going to Chipmunks play land, but we ran out of time. On the way home I fell asleep in the car. It was a really cool and fun day.

And we won second year in a row

The finals started at 9:ooam on Sunday 20th September 2009. The Hawera Primary School team members were Ashleigh Bennett, Kaitlyn Mehrtens, Briana Wallis, Kaitlin Mobbs, Arnold Fage, Zade Jonston, Jonty Hughes, Isaac Macleod, Jayden Rangi-Hutchinson and Eliason Calder. Team on three, one, two, three, TEAM! The starting five ran onto the court, Briana, Kaitlyn, Eliason, Ashleigh, Isaac. Ashleigh stood in the middle of the court to do the tip off. We were facing Turuturu. Ashleigh tipped it off and Turuturu got the ball. Eliason stole the ball and the first goal was scored Briana Wallis. The first quarter was finished as fast as lightning. It was time to have a team talk. Hawera Primary was winning 6-0. The second quarter was under away again. Goals went in like rockets. By half time the score was 12-2. Another goal went in, then another, then another. Like we said goals went in like rockets. And wouldn't you know it was the last quarter. One problem was Ashleigh and Eliason were both on 4 fouls and that isn't good. We needed them but Eliason was out from the game for fouling Turuturu. Ashleigh just held back and shot 3 free throws in. It was one of the best feelings in our lives, we had won the finals. The end score was 22-12. Prize giving came and everybody the partisipated got a medal. Ashleigh and Kaitlyn got M. V.P for the girls and Eliason got it for the boys. Well done Hawera Primary.

Hawera Cross Country

"9 year old girls come down to the start line," I heard on the speaker phone. I had butterflies in my stomach. On your marks, get set, go! We all raced off down the track like a swarm of bees, I was coming about fourteenth equal with a Turuturu girl. We raced out the gate and we were on our way to the 1.7km race. My heart was beating as fast as a cheater. We had to go up and down tiny hills but they really wore me out. My throat was as dry as a desert and I was begging for a cold drink of water. I had tones of sweat dripping of my head, it was disgusting. My face was going as red as a beetroot. There was gasping sounds coming out of my mouth. I was starting to go as slow as a snail, I was telling myself no don't stop. It was time to finish the race going around the gray hound track. Everybody from Hawera Primary starting cheering for me. My legs were feeling like jelly and I could see people going over the finish line, I was almost there. I could see Phoebe McLeod in front of me. I was trying so hard to catch up to her. Finally I was over the finish line, "19th place that's pretty good" I thought to myself. I ran on to the grand stand to get a big long drink of water. I'm so glad that's over!

Farewell Room 14

It is a sad day for Room 14 today as they say see ya later to four of their class members.

Farewell Room 14 we will miss you alot. Hopefully you will miss us. We had lots of fun doing all the activities like art, field trips and games. Do not worry we will come back to play mathletics and to say Hello. Have fun.

Aorere Coleege Choir

Yesterday a group of us walked over to the Hawera Intermediate to watch a performance from the Aorere College. It was magnificent. The college students who performed were extremely talented and we all had a great afternoon listening to the different ways they could use their voice.

Aorere College Musical Tour 2009

This was the choir. It was called the Sweet Sixteen Choir. It was called this because years ago it was only people who were 16 years of age or over but now it is who ever qets picked. We found it really interesting watching the conducter - he was so fast with his hands.

The boys pictured in this photo were called Four Elements Quartet. A quartet means four singers who perform together. They sang a song in Maori. They all had very different voices. We tried to work out which voice went with which
person.

The girls pictured in this photo were great to listen to. They were called the Lost Boys Barbershop Quartet. They sang a song call Sandman. Their hand actions were great It was great to watch.

Room 14's beautiful art

Room 14 has some very talented people who are very good at art. In our class we have got some very wicked pictures of around our town (Hawera). They have got the Kereru, cows from Fonterra, Mt Taranaki (Egmont) and the Water tower. In Room 14 we have portraits of our class which we did at the start of the year. We have also got an under water world wall with sea creatures all over it. Room 14 has definatly got some very talented artists. If you live around South Taranaki you should come in Room 14 and have a look!
